Big Square KE, a popular food outlet, has generated a mixed response following its call for ambassadors in exchange for exposure.
The company released a flyer inviting 12 food enthusiasts to apply for the opportunity to become brand ambassadors for each of its 12 branches.
In return, the ambassadors would receive benefits such as discounted meals, early access to new menu items and promotions, recognition on the restaurant’s website and social media platforms, and the chance to contribute to Big Square’s success.
The announcement also outlined the ambassadors’ responsibility of organizing and hosting events to highlight the unique features of each branch, (as seen above).
The post has sparked diverse reactions, with many expressing the opinion that it fails to appreciate and undervalues the efforts of content creators. Others have seen it as an unfair arrangement for creators, as they should be compensated financially and not with the said ‘Exposure’, discounted meals et cetera.
Big Square KE later issued a statement saying, –
We apologize for any confusion caused by our miscommunication. We would like to clarify that our ambassadors would receive payment through commission, We understand that this was not clearly communicated and we are taking steps to improve our approach moving forward. Please stay tuned for any further updates on this matter
